Bernie Volunteer Fire Department

Twelve men  comprise the Bernie Volunteer Fire Department.  These men donate their time and effort not only in fighting fires but also in attending training, maintaining equipment, and promoting public awareness.  During the past few years the department has been put to the test in Bernie and the surrounding area as major fires have threatened homes and businesses.  The town is extremely grateful to these dedicated public servants.

In April of 2000, the Bernie Civic Club named the department as a whole as "Men of the Year"  in recognition of their dedication to the City of Bernie.
