Bernie, Missouri is a nice, clean, quiet community
neighborhood where people choose to live because of the quality of life. We are
blessed with fifteen churches, an excellent school system, city services,
and fire and police protection. Great strides have been made to improve our
downtown area. We have resurfaced 28,905 ft of streets and 11,681 ft of
sidewalks in the past six years. We have also made several drainage
improvements. In the same period we have welcomed BPS Telephone Company
and Stoddard County Ambulance Service to Bernie, each having built new
buildings. We have approved building permits to the tune of $3,000,000 in
residential building and $1,629,000 plus in commercial building. We are also
the home of Ames True/Temper handle mill and BCT's Manufacturing, maker of
t-shirts, quilts, and other cut & sew items. We have one of the nicest park
systems in the area which includes one large and two small parks, and also a
fish pond stocked by the city. We were successful in being removed from the
flood plain resulting in lower insurance rates for our young home buyers. We
